Happy Birthday J

[It seems like all my post are for birthdays.  I guess if that's all I do at least I'm updating 7 times a year.  That's pretty good.]

* * *

Little j turned 4 today.  He is such a sweet kid.  He is a very good helper and a sweet kid.  He is the oldest one at home now and is really a great big brother to the two little girls.

His favorite thing is still sports.  We put him in swimming lessons for the winter.  We are planning to try soccer in the spring and baseball in the summer.

I still remember the summer after he turned two and Little a and t were in swimming lessons.  He was too young to swim, so we played at the park adjacent to the pool.  I let him choose the activity.  He usually wanted to play baseball or basketball.  He had a little plastic bat and ball and could hit a pitch.  He also got pretty good at dribbling and passing a full sized basketball by the end of the summer.  He got a lot of comments from such a little kid being so interested in sports.

He also likes pirates and superheros and making "projects".  He makes projects every day.   Projects usually consist of cutting up some paper and then taping it together and writing letters from the alphabet on in.  He even asked Santa for rolls of tape for Christmas so he could make projects.   If you come to our house he will make some kind of a letter or project and give it to you as a token of friendship.

He asked for a pirate cake for his birthday.  We googled "pirate cake" and when he saw the treasure box cakes filled with gold foil candy he switched over right away.  We opted to make his cheese pizza birthday dinner into a pirate treasure map with the treasure box for dessert.

At his age I usually have a friend birthday party.  But Little j has friends of all ages that are important to him.  Like the neighbor boys, age 12 and 13, from across the street that come play ball and tag.  Or our friend from church, age 6, that sometimes can come play before he goes to kindergarten.  I just didn't know how to do a party for kids of all different ages, so I think I'll wait till the weather is a bit warmer and have a BBQ and invite all their families over.

Here's a slide show of the last year with Little j.  I'll add a few photos of his party too in case you don't want to watch the whole slide show.  :)

Happy Birthday j

Happy Birthday "Little j". I can't believe you are 3. You seem to know so much more. You are the first one up and the first one dressed almost everyday. You have so much zest for life and sports. You don't ever want to miss a single minute. You are eager follow the example of your older siblings. You have a strong preference for sports, especially baseball and bowling and football and basketball and swimming. Your favorite song is "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." Your favorite color is yellow which matches your sunny disposition.

We took you bowling today and you loved it. We took the camera to the bowling alley and forgot to use it. We also forgot to bring it home. We took pictures of your cake and celebration on dad's cell phone camera. He promised to download them the same day, but it didn't happen. It could be a while before they make it to the blog.

Happy Belated Birthday

"Little A" had a birthday in September. Since then I've gone to a graduation, moved and gone to a wedding. Her birthday slide show got put on the back burner. I kept telling myself it's okay it's still October. Well, now it's November so I guess it's time to catch up.

Happy Birthday "Little A"! It's been a crazy year. We moved to a new state one week after you turned 5. Then a few weeks after you turned 6 we moved to another state. You said next year when we move you want to move to Indiana. I asked why Indiana? That's were Josh is moving to. (Actually Josh was moving to India.) But it was cute. You've been such a trooper through so many big moves. You are quick to notice patterns. Your birthday party has doubled as a good bye party for the last two years. Next year we hope will be different.

You have many talents. You love to read, cook and draw. You love it when you are told you are a great artist. You are a great artist!!! I noticed you like to arrange your toys and take photos of them. So this year we got you your own camera. I hope it helps you further develop your eye for good composition. We love you and wish you all the best in your next year.

Classic Pics

I’ve been meaning to post pictures of the kids. We found our camera today (yeah! Another little blessing.) It’s been missing for weeks. So hopefully I’ll have some good pictures soon. I think I’ll post a few classic pictures just for fun. I can’t believe how much our kids have grown just since we moved to Wisconsin, especially J.
